Town Partnerships

Two Town Management Initiatives - one in Maidenhead and one covering Windsor and Eton - are equal partnerships between the Royal Borough, the respective Chambers of Commerce and other town businesses. The partners provide the core funding jointly.

Working with a number of key organisations within the town, expertise and resources are pooled to meet local needs and common objectives. Business plans focus on agreed, objectives, which include:

  • Environment
  • Marketing and Events
  • Accessibility
  • Safety and Security

There are many successful town centre initiatives, for example, the Maidenhead Service Excellence Awards, Safer Shopping and Secure Car Park Awards, Maidenhead in Bloom and town centre Shop and Pub Watch schemes. Events are planned throughout the year to increase visitor numbers. Some complement the existing community events like the Windsor Arts Festival, Maidenhead Carnival and Christmas shopping and lights events. Other events that have been held include Food Fairs, a Fashion Week and continental markets. The latter continue to be a popular feature in all three town centres of Maidenhead, Windsor and Eton.

Each of the town partnerships pursues its own agenda, working to delivery outcomes that are included in their business plans. These are developed in close consultation with key stakeholders including shopping centre managers, other town centre businesses, the police and the council.

The Town Managers are always keen to hear from businesses and others that want to get involved in making the towns more vibrant and successful. They particularly welcome enquiries from people that would be interested in funding/sponsoring town centre projects large and small.
