Bus Services

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has successfully launched its own brand of buses called the "BoroughBus". These buses serve all the non commercial routes within the Borough after deregulation of services took place. The Council recognises the need for bus services and to date subsidises 80% of the network by funding socially necessary bus services, and part subsidising some additional services.

Our Boroughbuses are easily identifiable due to their attractive and distinctive livery. The White Bus service from Windsor to Ascot via Sunningdale which has a striking green design with graphics showing Windsor Castle, Windsor Great Park and Ascot racecourse and for services operated by Courtney Buses Nextbus depicting the use of real time information. Furthermore, all the buses are easily accessible with uniformed drivers and the majority of vehicles are fitted with CCTV to promote personal safety and air conditioning for added comfort. See our Community Partnership website for more information on Council's commitment to improving personal safety throughout the Borough.

Throughout each financial year, the Passenger Transport Team aims to fund socially necessary bus services, implement bus priority measures, provide and sustain adequate passenger facilities i.e. shelters, seats, information and safety. The Council is happy to work in partnership with transport operators and passengers to gain feedback to improve services, frequency, service links and information systems to make bus travel a real alternative to the car.
