News - My Care, My Choice

  • 2012-02-22 - MY CARE, MY CHOICE
People living in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead who need care and support can choose and direct their care with a Personal Budget provided through the council's My Care, My Choice approach. A Personal Budget is an amount of money that you may be allocated by the council to pay for your adult care and support to meet your social care needs and achieve the outcomes you want. All Personal Budgets are subject to a means tested assessment to determine if you can contribute to the cost.

Some Borough residents choose to receive their Personal Budget as a Direct Payment. A Direct Payment is for people who would like to arrange and pay for their own care and support services instead of receiving them directly from the council. There is information on the council's website which can help you decide if Direct Payments are the right choice for you. There are also resources to help you with employing your own care staff. You can view this information at http://www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/social_direct-payments.htm. Contact the Advice and Information Team for more information about My Care, My Choice and Personal Budgets. Your Independence Day Events

Royal Borough residents were invited to drop in and find out more about the wide range of local services and activities available to them at a series of showcase events held across the borough. (10 & 21 March 2011) The events focused on three main areas: prevention, marketplace, and activities. A report of the events and the feedback received from visitors and exhibitors found that the events were successful in meeting their objectives. See the Video Clips webpage to view the recording.

A similar event will be held in Ascot and is being organised by the Ascot Project (telephone 01344 620075):

  • Ascot Retirement Fair at The Grandstand, Ascot Racecourse - Friday 26 August, 10am until 2pm.
