MY CARE, MY CHOICE is the name of the Royal Borough's new approach to social care. This approach is also known as 'self-directed support'.

Our vision for the Royal Borough is:

My Care, My Choice is designed for people in need of social care in the community who:

Are elderly or frail	Have a sensory impairment
Have a physical disability	Have a mental health need
Have a learning disability	Have a dependency on drugs or alcohol

The Royal Borough does not allocate Personal Budgets to:

people who are assessed as requiring long-term residential or nursing care
people receiving after-care services under Section 117 of the Mental Health Act
people who have needs that must be met immediately
people who receive intermediate care services

Occupational Therapy equipment only and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) only will continue to be supplied outside of self-directed support.
