Community Meal Provision

Selection of FruitThe Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Social Services provides support to local people who are assessed as requiring services. The aim of this support is mainly focused on helping people remain independent and in their own homes where possible. Community meals services play a vital role in the range of services available from Social Services, which may include:

  • Home Care
  • Day Care
  • Respite
  • Occupational Therapy items.
  • Care Management input.

The meals service is available to those people who meet the eligibility criteria, following an assessment by a social worker. The assessment will include whether the hot meals service or the frozen delivery service is most suitable for your needs.

We offer the following services:

  • Hot meal deliveries 7 days a week, 365 days a year to those assessed as needing them.
  • Borough wide hot meal deliveries.
  • Delivery of frozen meals with a choice of over 30 alternative options.
  • Provision of freezers and microwaves for storing and heating meals.

The frozen meal option offers service users a far greater choice of meals and, the freedom to eat them at a time most suitable to their own needs. We also provide meals to meet the needs of people with a range of medical and cultural needs.  The meals we provide will meet high standards of quality and nutritional value.  However if you have any complaints, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

There are a range of meal options available depending on your level of need.

  • Meal preparation – for those unable to feed themselves due to physical or mental disability.
  • Hot meal delivery – for those who are able to feed themselves but unable to heat or cook a meal.
  • Frozen meal delivery – for those who are able to heat a meal but unable to prepare one themselves.

We will continue to work in partnership with providers to maintain and improve the quality of community meals in the Borough. There is a daily charge for the meals service, which is reviewed annually.  You will be advised of the charge as part of your assessment.
