Relief Care

What is relief care?Carer and toddler

Also known as shared care, the term 'relief care' covers a variety of different types of part-time foster care.

Relief carers might have a child to stay for anything from a few hours each week to a couple of weekends each month.

This arrangement gives birth families or the full time foster carer of a child a break to spend with their own children or have a holiday. It also allows the child to develop relationships with other people and widen their circle of friends and carers.
