Events

Social Workers from Deaf Services Team will be at the Bridge the Gap Cafe, Maidenhead Town Hall on Monday 1st February 2010 between 9am and 1pm.

If you have any questions about equipment, booking interpreters, registration or want to meet with a Social Worker please drop by. If you cannot make this date, future sessions will be held on:

• Friday 9th April 2010 at the Council Offices, Sheet Street, Windsor
• Monday 7th June 2010 at the Bridge the Gap Café, Maidenhead Town Hall
• Monday 2nd August 2010 at the Council Offices, Sheet Street, Windsor
• Monday 4th October 2010 at the Bridge the Gap Café, Maidenhead Town Hall
• Monday 6th December 2010 at the Council Offices, Sheet Street, Windsor

The Deaf Services Team provides social services to deaf and hard of hearing children and adults living in Berkshire, under an agreement with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and four other Berkshire Unitary Authorities.

The services are available to adults, young people and children of all ages and their families. This also includes those who, in addition to their hearing impairment, may also have a physical disability, mental health, learning disability or be elderly. The aim of the Deaf Services Team is to provide the right help and advice for each person, as individual needs vary.

The Team consists of specialist workers who can communicate in a variety of ways and are able to use sign language (BSL/SSE).

The Deaf Services Team aims to provide:

• Social work support
• Advice, guidance and assistance on a wide range of issues, leading to independent living
• Information about essential equipment to assist daily living in the home
• Information on deaf issues
• Information on Deaf Clubs and where to meet other people
