Concessionary Fare Direct Payment

 

What is it and who is it for?

A concessionary fare is a Direct Payment made by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.  It is for people who are unable to use public transport and have no other means of getting out and about and meet our eligibility criteria.


A Direct Payment for concessionary fares replaces the old taxi voucher scheme.


Concessionary fares are used by permanently disabled residents who are unable to use public transport.


You can receive a concessionary fare payment if you have one of the following disabilities;

Eligibility Criteria

  • Registered blind
  • Profoundly or severely deaf
  • You are without speech
  • You have no arms or long term loss if use of both arms
  • You have a recognised learning disabilities
  • you are ineligible to drive a motor vehicle on the grounds of physical fitness
  • You have a disability or has suffered an injury which has long term adverse affect on their ability to walk
  • You have a Blue Badge (Disabled parking badge) and don't drive yourself

Proof of Entitlement

In order to apply for a concessionary fare Direct Payment, you will need to supply us with proof of entitlement and a completed well being assessment form.

The following items can be used as proof of entitlement;

  • Proof of Disability Allowance
  • Visual Impairment Certificate
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Allowance

Once you are in receipt of concessionary fare payments you will automatically be sent a renewal form annually, which will ask you to confirm the details we hold are still correct.


A concessionary fare payment does not affect your benefits.

Application Form & Well-being Assessment


You can download an application for a concessionary fare Direct Payment from which has a well being assessment attached.  Please print it out, fill it in and send it back to the Direct Payments Team.  Alternatively, you can pick one up from the Town Hall in Maidenhead or York House in Windsor, contact the Direct Payments team on 01628 683591 or email direct.payments@rbwm.gov.uk
