Transport Related Payments: Frequently Asked Questions

TAPs is Travel Assistance Payments Scheme. The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) asked People to Places to manage the new scheme for access and mobility transport starting in April 2012.

People to Places have listened to the concerns of the current Transport Related Direct Payments (TRDP) recipients to offer a new high quality transport service that addresses practical issues and meets the RBWM's requirements of a transparent and cost-effective service.

Application for TAPs will be subject to the same eligibility criteria as the previous scheme and this will be managed by People to Places. The new scheme will commence on the anniversary of an individual's TRDP payment.

Features of TAPs are:

  • Vouchers for 18 single journeys up to 2 miles or 9 return journeys to be used within a 12 month period
  • Journeys have to be pre-booked and this is undertaken through our dedicated booking line
  • Multiple vouchers can be used for longer journeys and these can go outside the Royal Borough area
  • No charge will be made for a carer or assistance dog travelling with you
