Transport Related Payment

A new scheme for access and mobility transport will be introduced from 1 April 2012.

Travel Assistance Payments Scheme

People2Places websiteWe have reached agreement with People to Places, who operate the Borough's Dial-a-Ride service, for them to administer the pre-paid credits to provide travel for eligible residents in their accessible vehicles. (Formerly known as Transport Related Direct Payments)

From 1 April 2012 instead of receiving a £100 cash payment on a due date, residents will receive pre-paid credits for eighteen one-way local journeys (defined as up to 2 miles).

You will be required to complete a People to Places application form. The answers you provide on this assessment form will help People to Places to address any requirements you may have when using transport provided under the Travel Assistance Payments Scheme (TAPs).

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions section for further information about People to Places, who they are, what they do, and what they offer.

Eligibility Criteria

You can receive pre-paid credits if you have one of the following disabilities:

  • Registered blind
  • Profoundly or severely deaf

The following items can be used as proof of entitlement:

  • Proof of Disability Allowance
  • Visual Impairment Certificate
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Allowance

If you are unsure about what you can use to provide proof of entitlement, then please ring People to Places on 01628 587928 and they will advise you.

Once you are in receipt of pre-paid credits you will automatically be sent a renewal form annually, which will ask you to confirm the details held are still correct.

A transport related payment does not affect your benefits.
