The School Sport Co-ordinator (SSCo) Partnerships are DfES funded schemes which enable schools to work towards the Public Service Agreement Target set by the government to:
"enhance the take up of sporting opportunities by 5-16 year olds by increasing the percentage of school children who spend a minimum of two hours a week on high quality PE and School Sport within and beyond the curriculum from 25% in 2002 to 75% by 2006".
(PE, School Sport and Club Links Strategy - PESSCL, 2002)
This target has now been extended to 85% of 5-16 year olds by 2008.
RBWM has two partnerships, one hosted by Charters School (managed by Emma Fitzgerald Partnership Development Manager - PDM), the second is jointly hosted by Windsor Boys' School and Windsor Girls' School (managed by Jo Pappenheim & Chantal Roe Gammon, PDMs).
At the secondary/middle/upper school a PE teacher (School Sport Coordinator - SSCo) is released from school 2 days a week to develop PE in their school and to work with their primary/first schools to raise standards in PE and school sport.
In the primary/first school a Primary Link Teacher (PLT) works with the SSCo and is funded for 12 days a year (released from timetable) to attend courses and develop PE and school sport for their primary school.
