What is Clubmark?

The Sport England "Clubmark" scheme is a national accreditation for sports clubs who demonstrate they are "Safe, Effective and Child-Friendly". The scheme has a set of standards for clubs to meet in order to achieve Clubmark status, and  enables parents, carers and young people to recognise a quality sports club.

The criteria for Clubmark accreditation covers four areas of a club's provision, which are:

  • The playing programme - coaching and competition
  • The protection and safety of children and young people
  • Sports equity and ethics
  • Club management

Why work towards Clubmark accredidation?

Clubs that work towards gaining Clubmark accredidation will experience many benefits, including:

  • Sports Development support
  • Development of coaches to improve quality
  • Membership of the Sport England 'Volunteer Investment Programme' to enhance the club's volunteer workforce
  • Increased promotion locally and nationally
  • Access to workshops to aid club development

Our Club Directory web page gives a current list of RBWM clubs that have achieved Clubmark accreditation.

Which sports can gain Clubmark?
