Simple Steps

Here are some simple steps to getting married in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the order in which to take them.

  1. Find the person you wish to marry.
We can't help you with this one!
  2. Decide where and when you would like to get married.
Which could be the Register Office at Maidenhead or any of the approved venues on our list.
  3. Book the Registrars to attend your wedding.
We attend weddings at all the approved venues in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
  4. Give Legal Notice of your intent to marry.
You must do this at the register office for the district in which you live. Please remember you will need an appointment to do this  (Tel: 01628 796422)
  5. Collect your authority to marry from the local Registrar.
After 16 days your marriage authority will be ready for collection. (However, if you live in the Royal Borough and are getting married here, you won't need to do this!)
  6. Bring the authority to us as soon as possible.
Without that authority we cannot marry you on the day. (Again if you gave notice in the Royal Borough we will already have the authority document!)
  7. Come in to talk through your wedding ceremony
3 to 4 weeks before the date, make an appointment to come in and meet the registrar who will conduct the ceremony and finalise the details for your big day!
  8. Marry the person in number 1.
We can certainly help you with this one!
