Planning Policy Frequently Asked Questions

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the name given to a collection of documents that guide planning decisions. The LDF can be thought of as a folder comprising two types of Local Development Documents:

  • Development Plan Documents which form part of the statutory development plan.
  • Supplementary Planning Documents which amplify the policies of the statutory development plan.

The LDF will replace the existing policies in the Local Plan and together with the Regional Spatial Strategy will form the statutory development plan for the Royal Borough.
