Open Space Audit

Work began in late 2007 on an update to the existing Public Open Space Strategy (adopted June 2001).  The Open Space and Green Infrastructure Study will update and build upon the content of that earlier document and look also at the issue of Green Infrastructure.

The study will assess in more detail the existing open space, sport and recreation facilities in the Royal Borough in terms of both quantity and quality.  It will also establish appropriate open space standards.  Areas where deficiencies in provision exist will be identified and new sites sought to help improve provision.

The study will also examine the extent of the linkages between existing open space / sport and recreation areas and look at the opportunities to protect and enhance the extent of those linkages.

The consultancy PMP have been commissioned to undertake this work in conjunction with officers from the Council.  The final report is to be published in the autumn 2008.
