National Planning Policy

National planning policies are set out through a series of Planning Policy Statements (PPSs), Planning Policy Guidance (PPGs), Minerals Policy Statements (MPSs) and Minerals Guidance Notes (MGN), Circulars and Parliamentary Statements. National planning policy is a material consideration in related planning decisions, be they plan making or planning applications. The government is currently reviewing all PPGs with the publication of PPSs and where necessary practice guidance.

Details of all national planning policies are available from the Department of Communities and Local Government website.
