Listed Buildings Frequently Asked Questions

The RBWM Maps online can be used to check whether a building is listed and its grade.  More information including grading and list description for most of the listed buildings within the Borough is available online on the 'Images of England' website.

The easiest way to search the database is to use the standard search; this requires you to register free.  Prior to searching, uncheck the box marked "Only show Listed Buildings that have images" as this will provide information on all the listed buildings on the 'Images of England' database.

Please note that this information may not be completely comprehensive and if you cannot find the building you are interested in, you are advised to contact the Conservation Team on 01628 685687.

You should also be aware that the Maps online information and the English Heritage list identify only the principal listed buildings. However the listed building legislation also gives protection to certain buildings within the curtilage of the principal building. This can include items such as garden walls and outbuildings, and can also include buildings that were once associated with a principal building, but have subsequently separated. For example a stable block separated from a country house. If there are any doubts on this matter please contact the Council for further guidance.
