The Council is undertaking an analysis of Green Belt. This analysis is part of a wider exercise looking at development options, with an emphasis upon the availability of land within settlements to deliver development.
As part of this exercise the Council has undertaken a study of the Green Belt boundaries. This includes looking at open spaces at the edge of settlements where there is potential for further Green Belt designation, and improving the defensibility of the boundaries.
The methodology for defining Green Belt boundaries has been assessed, and a revised methodology proposed in order to remove a number of inconsistencies.
