Conservation Areas

There are 27 designated Conservation Areas in the Borough. Maps showing the boundaries of each of the Conservation Areas can be accessed using the links below.

Conservation Area Appraisal Statements have been prepared for some of the Conservation Areas within the Borough. These are descriptive documents that outline the special character and appearance of the individual Conservation Areas. At the present time, the online versions of these Appraisal Statements do not include the summary map for each area that identifies the main features of the area as described in the text. We hope to add these soon, but in the interim a hard copy of the summary map can be obtained from the Conservation Section.

The appraisals marked * were part of a public consultation exercise which ended on Monday 17th August 2009, following this consultation the revised documents were reported to and endorsed by Cabinet on 26th November 2009. The latest version of the document can be on the Conservation Consultation Draft Appraisals web page.

The Conservation Areas marked ** are now part of a public consultation exercise which will end on Monday 29th March 2010 and are available to view on the Conservation Consultation Draft Appraisals web page.
