Thursday December 6 saw the latest in the Borough's Partnership events when Council Members, officers and representatives from Partner organisations came together to discuss the Partnerships priorities and how they can be driven forward to ensure the delivery of the Community Partnership's aims and ambitions. The Leader of the Council, David Burbage and the Lead Member for Community Partnerships, Councillor Christine Bateson both gave key note addresses to the large audience.
The Council at the meeting on 11 December gave final sign off approval to the latest version of the Community Strategy 2007-2013. This vital document has been revised to ensure that the aims, ambitions and priorities of the Council and the Partnership are fully reflected in all the action plans.
Cabinet at its meeting on 13 December approved the latest Consultation Strategy of the Partnership. This Strategy will guide how the Partnership ensures it is listening to the views of the community on all the key issues and sets out an action plan for all the various consultation that will take place over the next three years.
All the work of the ambition groups is encapsulated in the Community Strategy, which was launched in Autumn 2007.
In February 2004, the Royal Borough launched its Compact, one of the first in the country.
The Compact was developed through extensive consultation in 2003 with more than 300 local organisations in an all-embracing agreemnt to forge closer links between the voluntray sector and the public sector.
The agreement has been developed through a multi-agency steering group involving a number of organisations from the Community Partnership with strong representation from the voluntary and community sector. The compact shows how organisations can work together to deliver action plans, develop codes of practice and monitor how their work is contributing to the overall progress of the Community Strategy.
The Community Partnership will monitor how the compact is working and other community liaison groups, such as the voluntray sector forum, will provide opportunities for all agencies to raise issues for discussion.
