Overview

Cllr Christine Bateson, chair of the Royal Borough's community partnership board said 'The new administration feels that the Community Partnership is so important to the Council and residents of the borough that it created a new post on the Cabinet, to ensure its profile is high and at the heart of the Council's work.  I am therefore delighted to hold this position on the Cabinet.

As the Community Partnership Board's new Chair (from May 2007), I am keen to maintain the momentum and commitment of the partnership.  I am especially keen to develop closer links with local businesses and the voluntary sector.'

This is the overarching body of the Community Partnership, comprising elected Members from the Royal Borough,  and non-executive directors from the Police, the Fire Service, the Primary Care Trust, the business community, Parish Councils etc., whose role is to:

• Provide strategic input from their organisations
• Facilitate 'joined up' working and collaborative ventures across the partnership
• Approve strategic documents and plans on behalf of their organisation
• Contribute to reviews undertaken and monitoring of Partnership progress

The next Partnership Board Meeting is on 16 January 2008, starting at 7.00 pm.
