Parenting Strategy

Introduction

Evidence shows that parents have a significant impact on outcomes for children and young people right across the Every Child Matters five outcomes. A positive parenting style can act as a protective factor against multiple disadvantages, and has a more significant impact on children's educational achievement than parents' social class or level of education. Whilst parenting is first and foremost a private and personal affair, nearly three quarters of parents say there are times when they would welcome more support in their parenting role.
