The following are some familiar local landmarks maintained by the Borough.
Maudsley Memorial outside Maidenhead Library. These gardens were originally provided in 1975 as a memorial to the late Alderman John Baker Maudsley CBE.The stone was imported from Yorkshire to recognise the Alderman's origin.
Bridge to Guards Club Island. This unique, ornate footbridge which connects Guards Club Park to Thames Island was built around 1865 and led to the club boathouse on the island. The bridge was rescued by the Maidenhead Civic Society in 1976.
Hut in Guards Club Park. The spire to the former club boathouse now covers the shelter in the park.
Ada Lewis Trough at Bridge Gardens was erected in November 1908 and forms noteable gateway feature into Maidenhead
Flora's statue at Desborough Park 'Flora's Garden', a sculptural seat/drinking fountain produced in 1999 by sculptor Philip Bews and Diana Gorvin, in Portland stone .
The Grenfell Drinking Fountain was presented in memory of Elizabeth Cholmondeley, late of Hurley.
In 2009 the drinking fountain was incorporated as the central feature of the new decorative water feature.
This War Memorial is at the Maidenhead Town Hall, commemorating those who were killed during the First and Second World Wars and subsequent actions
There are three sculptures on Ray Mill Island maintained by the Borough: from left to right are 'Vintage Boys' by Lydia Karpinska, 'The Companions' by Eunice Goodman and 'Maiden with Swans' by Eunice Goodman.


The Dyson Memorial Fountain was moved in May 2009 from its location at the junction of Barry Avenue and Goswell Road to the south east corner of Alexandra Gardens by the Gosell Road entrance to the Park. The Memorial in the form of a drinking fountain commemorates Thomas Dyson who founded Dyson & Sons , pianoforte dealers in Thames Street in 1885 and became Mayor in 1890. Thomas Dyson actively promoted improvements in the town, such as the construction of The Promenade.
Obelisk at Bachelors Acre, situated at the east end of the park. Erected 1809/10 to commemorate 50th year reign of George III. This event was celebrated with Ox roast and plum pudddings. Subsequent events have also been noted on the memorial such as an Ox roast in 2002.
Clewer Memorial Park Lych Gate. The lych gate came from the Church of the Saviour which was situated in nearby Bier Lane. This is all that remains of the church.
George V Memorial. Designed by Sir Edward Luytens, this fountain was given to the people of Windsor by King Edward VII. The memorial is at the junction of Thames Street and Datchet Road in Windsor.
Prince Christian Victor, on corner near Theatre Royal, Windsor. Commemorates Prince Christian a member of the royal family and one of Queen Victoria's grandsons. He is noted to have been one of the bravest royal soldiers. He died from enteric fever, in Pretoria on 29th October 1900 aged 33 and is interred in the Pretoria cemetery.
This drinking fountain is located alongside the Guildhall in Windsor. It was erected to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee in 1977.
Other features in Windsor include the Chequer Board at Church Street Gardens, the Maze at Goswells, the Sundial at Alexandra Gardens, and the war memorial opposite the Dyson Fountain.
