Courtlands Permits

Further to previous consultations and a public meeting held at the Town Hall, Maidenhead on 23 April 2008 regarding parking issues in Courtlands, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have developed a controlled parking zone scheme which is due to be implemented in conjunction with resurfacing works in August/September 2008.

Should you have any queries regarding the scheme, please contact Tony Carr at traffic@rbwm.gov.uk or telephone: 01628 796405 no later than 30 July 2008.

What is a Controlled Parking Zone?

Controlled parking zone schemes are introduced primarily as a method of reducing non-local parking in areas where it would otherwise significantly reduce the parking available for residents and their visitors.  Courtlands is a good example of this as it is in close proximity to Maidenhead Station, therefore attracting commuters.

What will be done?

The proposed scheme is detailed on the pdf below.

The scheme involves short sections of double yellow lines at the four corners of Courtlands to alleviate obstructive parking and safeguard access for emergency services vehicles.  This will also result in better pedestrian and vehicle visibility around bends.

Two signs at the entrance to Courtlands will be erected to state "Permit holders parking only past this point.

Monday - Friday 10am - 6.30pm.

Parking attendants will enforce the scheme by issuing Penalty Charge Notices to illegally parked vehicles i.e. those vehicles not displaying a valid permit within Courtlands, during the hours of operation.

Am I entitled to a Parking Permit?

Anyone who lives in Courtlands and who is the registered keeper of the vehicle is entitled to apply for a permit. A Residents Permit is only valid for a specific vehicle and costs £20 per year.  A second permit can be purchased for £40 per year.

The number of permits allowed will be reduced by any off-street parking allocated to the property.

Why is there a charge?

Government regulations require controlled parking zones to be self-financing and therefore cannot be funded from council tax.  The charges are required to account for the implementation of the scheme, administration and its enforcement.

What about my visitors?

Visitors may use visitors permits to park in Courtlands during the operational hours i.e. Monday-Friday 10am-6.30pm.  Outside the hours of control, visitors do not need to display visitor permits.

Residents will be issued with a maximum of 25 2-hour visitor vouchers per year, free of charge.

In addition, residents are entitled to a maximum of 50 visitor permit vouchers per year. The costs of the vouchers are as follows:

  • 24 hour vouchers - £2 each
  • 6 hour vouchers - £1
