Bag it, tie it, bin it in Woodlands Park

White Waltham Parish Council and Boyn Hill, Cox Green and Woodlands Park Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) have joined forces with the Royal Borough's Community Safety Partnership to remind local residents to 'bag it, tie it, bin it'.

On Thursday 25 August members of the parish council, NAG and community wardens will be on hand at Phipps Close Play Area, Woodlands Park, between 10am and 12noon, handing out biodegradable dog poo bags and information leaflets. The Mayor, Cllr Asghar Majeed, will be attending at 11am to show his support for the latest drive to rid the Royal Borough of dog mess.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community Safety, said: "This area of Maidenhead is widely used by families with young children and it is disgraceful that a few inconsiderate dog owners fail to clear up after their pet.

"As a parent I know that young children will put anything in their mouths, unfortunately including dog mess, which can make a child very poorly and, at its worst, can cause blindness. As a fellow dog owner I know we all need to be responsible and think of the consequences of not clearing up after our dog.

"I am delighted that we are working in partnership with the parish council and the neighbourhood action group and I know the community wardens will continue to take a proactive stance in the battle against dog poo and issue fixed penalty notices to dog owners who fail to clear up after their dog."

Joe Mullen, White Waltham Parish Councillor and NAG member, said: "The Parish Council identified an increasing issue with dog fouling incidents and the neighbourhood action group has it as one of their three priorities.

"I am disgusted that a very small minority of dog users fail to clear up after their dog. I am delighted the parish council and the NAG have joined forces with the community wardens, especially as they have powers to issue fixed penalty notices to errant dog owners.

"This is not a one-off - we will continue to remind people to bag it, tie and bin it."
