Time for WWII tea!

Step back in time and join an afternoon of tea and entertainment with a World War Two theme in Dedworth on Saturday 3 September.

The tea, organised by Mayor's Officer Fred Simmonds and his wife community warden Michelle, is supported by the Mayor, Cllr Asghar Majeed, in aid of the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund.

On the day, which runs from 2 to 5pm at All Saints Church, Dedworth Road, highlights will include old-fashioned entertainment for all the family, not least 'Fingers' Fred tickling the ivories with a host of wartime songs to keep everyone entertained. Entry is by donation and a ration book-style raffle ticket will be given on arrival.

Guests are encouraged to get in the spirit by dressing in wartime style - with a prize for the best dressed guest.

Many local organisations are supporting the event, including Tesco Dedworth, Medina Dairies and The Cake Maker - all providing refreshments.

Cllr Majeed said: "I am delighted that local community support has been so positive and I am sure the tea will be a success.

"I do hope many residents, young and old, will come along. I'm looking forward to singing along with all the familiar wartime songs - it will be a fun way to raise money for such a worthwhile cause."

Call 07769 781966 or email michelle.simmonds@rbwm.gov.uk to book - numbers are needed for refreshments.
