People across the borough have been taking the opportunity to voice their views about parking - at their homes, on local streets, in car parks and in town and village centres - and the council is keen to hear from even more.
The closing date for taking part in the 2011 parking survey has been extended to Friday 9 September and everyone is invited to get involved online at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/parking_consultations.htm
The aim is to get as many views as possible to help the council plan for future parking needs and Cllr Phill Bicknell has called on residents, businesses and visitors alike to have their say.
Cllr Bicknell, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Environment, said: "It is absolutely vital that our parking controls and car parks meet the needs of everyone who lives, works and visits here. It's a tough challenge given the competing demands on space, but we believe that, with the public's help, we can provide a safer, fairer and more efficient service for everyone."
The consultation explores:
• how often people use different types of parking
• any difficulties they have with finding parking spaces
• on-street parking controls - do they need changing in any way to better suit residents' needs (e.g. hours or days of control)
• any issues with illegally parked vehicles
• quality of car parking and how car parks could be improved
• current parking systems - how easy they are to use, including applying for and renewing residents' permits and paying in car parks.
The questionnaire can be completed online or printed and returned to Parking Consultation, Freepost SL1453, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead.
Copies of the form are also available from local libraries, the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, and York House, Sheet Street, Windsor, and in the First Stop Shops in Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Eton and Datchet. Comments may also be sent to this Freepost address or by email to parking@rbwm.gov.uk.
A report on the consultation outcomes will go to cabinet later in the year and a summary will be published on the council's website www.rbwm.gov.uk and in the residents' newspaper, Around the Royal Borough.
