Golden opportunity to get crafty with the community wardens

Royal Borough community wardens will be hosting an afternoon of Olympic-themed crafts and activities at Maidenhead Library on Wednesday 25 July.

Among the activities will be face painting for five-to 11-year-olds between 1.30 and 4pm and the community safety team will have a stand offering a wide range of crime reduction and burglary prevention tips including a display of door and window locks.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member with responsibility for community safety, said: "With the Olympics only days away, this will be a great way to get the children enthusiastic about the Olympics while staying safe.

"It will be an ideal way to spread the crime prevention message to young and old ahead of the Games and hopefully prevent residents from being victims of crime. I urge as many people as possible to come along."

Brian Martin, community safety manager, said: "This is a novel method of getting the crime reduction message across in a fun way. I am delighted that our community wardens are involving themselves in the spirit of the Games and it is yet another example of the great job they do in our communities."
