Windsor Shopmobility members and visitors are set to benefit from a spacious, purpose-built new home when it opens on Monday 23 July.
Situated in the Alma Road coach park, the new Shopmobility location offers easy access for elderly and cautious drivers in a street level car park. It's conveniently close to Alexandra Gardens and the River Thames with three routes into the town centre.
Cllr Peter Lawless, lead member for People to Places*, said: "We are really excited about this new venue for Windsor Shopmobility which ticks pretty much all the boxes - easy access, parking, sufficient space, good quality facilities and waiting areas - and all in time for the Olympics.
"While our residents remain our prime concern we are mindful that among the many visitors to Windsor there will be those who can also benefit from this excellent service."
The new site comprises two high quality cabins, one providing office space and sufficient room for customers to sit and wait for a Dial a Ride vehicle or taxi if required. The other will house at least 20 scooters with ample electrical points for charging.
Adjacent to the cabin are 10 accessible parking bays which are separated from the public parking for convenience and safety. People to Places vehicles will be able to park next to the building, making dropping off and collecting passengers very straightforward.
Cllr Lawless added: "Town centre locations with sufficient space for scooter storage, office, parking for customers and easy access are not easy to come by so we are pleased we were able to acquire a piece of council property in such a good location.
"We are optimistic that this new site will help boost the number of Shopmobility users."
