Thousands of people are expected in the Royal Borough for the Olympic Torch Relay on Tuesday 10 July 2012 and there are key messages for the public who plan to watch this historic event.
The Royal Borough is working to minimise disruption and help ensure that everyone will enjoy the day. Maidenhead, Windsor and Ascot town centres will be open for business as usual but spectators should be aware that there will be road closures and on-street parking restrictions.
The Royal Borough's advice to spectators is:

Free parking is being offered in all three areas.

Maidenhead
Torch arrives: 10.50am. Torch leaves: 11.30am (timings approx)
Road closures/changes - from 10am.
Roads affected: The A308 Marlow Road between Courthouse Road and the A4 Bad Godesberg Way will operate as a one-way, southbound only from 10am. This is to ensure the safety of the school children and other spectators.
Southbound traffic will be allowed to continue to ensure minimal build-up of traffic prior to the arrival of the convoy.
Side roads onto Gringer Hill between Malvern Road and Bad Godesberg Way will be closed from 10am.
Road closures to prevent southbound traffic will be implemented on the Furze Platt Road south of its junction with Malvern Road from 10.40am.
From approximately 11am the following roads will be closed: King Street from junction with Nicholson's Lane; Queen Street junction with Broadway; Park Street junction with Broadway; St Ives Road junction with York Road; St Ives Road from junction with High Street; High Street from junction with Bridge Avenue; High Street from junction with Crown Lane; Bridge Street junction with Forlease Road.
From approximately 11.10am the following roads will be closed: A4 Bridge Road junction with Waldeck Road; A4 Bridge Road junction with Ray Street; A4 Bridge Road junction with Oldfield Road; A4 Bridge Road junction with Lassell Gardens; A4 Bridge Road junction with Ray Park Avenue; A4 Bridge Road junction with Guards Club Road; A4 Bridge Road junction with Ray Mead Road. Side roads will be closed while the Torch convoy passes through.
Removal of road closures will be after the full convoy has passed and pedestrians are clear of the carriageway.
The Torch leaves Maidenhead over Maidenhead Bridge at approximately 11.30am.
Parking: The council's normal public town centre car parks will be FREE during the morning (9am - 12noon). On-street parking along the route will be suspended between 8am and 12noon.
There will also be no parking along the A308 Marlow Road and Craufurd Rise from 12 midnight on Monday 9 July until 11am on Tuesday 10 July.
Windsor
Torch arrives: 2.30pm. Torch leaves: 3.30pm (timings approx)
Road closures/changes from 1.30pm.
Roads affected: Arthur Road, Sheet Street, Park Street, High Street, Thames Street, Castle Hill, St Albans Street, all streets in the Guildhall area, Peascod Street, Goswell Road (roundabout with Charles Street).
All parking bays in Arthur Road, Sheet Street (between Victoria Street and Francis Road) and High Street (northern section of Park Street) will be suspended from midnight on Monday 9 July.
There will be a one-way traffic system in Arthur Road from 1.30pm. Traffic will only be permitted to head eastwards from Royal Windsor Way (formerly Windsor and Eton relief road) towards Charles Street. As a result all roads connecting with Arthur Road will have restricted access.
All roads will re-open at the earliest and safest possible time - likely to be by 3.30pm.
Parking: Free parking for spectators will be available at Windsor Racecourse (for the Arthur Road viewing area), Home Park (town centre viewing areas) and the Review Ground, Windsor Castle Great Park (Long Walk viewing area - access from the A332 Sheet Street Road).These car parks will be free of charge (12noon to 3.30pm).
Resident permit and season ticket holders displaced by the arrangements will be given free alternative parking in any council car park (except River Street). Permit/season tickets must be clearly displayed.
All the council's town centre car parks will be open as usual (normal charges apply).
All parking bays in Arthur Road will be suspended from midnight on Monday 9 July. There will also be parking bay suspensions on the following roads: Charles Street, Sheet Street (between Victoria Street and Francis Road), High Street (northern section of Park Street). These bays will be suspended from 11.30am following the normal guard change in the town centre.
Ascot
Torch arrives: 4.25pm. Torch leaves: 5.25pm (timings approx)
Road closures/changes from 3.50pm.
Roads affected: London Road at the junction of Winkfield Road, bottom of Station Hill, High Street at the junction of Station Hill and both the entrance and exit into Ascot on the Heatherwood roundabout.
Removal of road closures will be on a rolling programme after the full convoy has passed and pedestrians are clear of the carriageway.
Parking: All on-street parking bays along the route will be suspended between 2pm and 5pm. There will be no parking along the High Street from midnight on Monday 9 July until 6pm on Tuesday 10 July.
The council car park at London Road will be open as usual.
Ascot Racecourse car parks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 will be free for members of the public to park, but operated on a first-come-first-served basis. Disabled parking will be available in all car parks. Car parks will be open from 2 until 7.30pm. Parking will be FREE to blue badge holders in all car parks.
