Make sure of your right to vote at Police and Crime Commissioner elections - and be entered into a prize draw

Voter registration forms will be dropping through letterboxes across the Royal Borough from 10 July onwards - and residents are urged to respond as soon as possible to ensure they are listed on the new register and are eligible to vote in the new Police and Crime Commissioner elections to be held on 15 November.

All residential properties will receive the voter registration forms in the coming weeks as part of the annual canvass - and any residents who have not received their form by Friday 20 July should contact the Electoral Services helpline on 01628 683868. The information returned will be used to compile the revised electoral register which will be published in October.

Maria Lucas, electoral registration officer, said: "Registering to vote is very simple and should take no more than 15 minutes of your time.

"This year we have introduced a prize draw for those who respond online or by telephone or SMS text. These can be used by those households where there are NO changes required to the information we already hold. If there are changes you should complete the registration form and return it in the pre-paid envelope supplied in the pack.

"Last year 15,250 households responded electronically and we hope this year's prize draw will encourage you to join the growing band of householders responding this way. One lucky household will win £100 worth of vouchers of their choice. To be automatically entered you must respond by Friday 3 August. If you don't respond you may lose your vote."

Electors can choose to have their details excluded from the edited register - this means their details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations. Details of this are on the reverse of the form and the additional guidance notes in the pack.

For more information contact the borough's electoral registration helpline on 01628 683868.
