Celebrations as parks raise six Green Flags

Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground is the latest Royal Borough park to earn a prestigious Green Flag - which marks it as one of the cleanest, greenest, safest open areas in the country.

Clewer - which boasts a large and popular galleon in its play area - joins five other borough parks, all of which have retained their Green Flag status in the annual accreditation.

Flags will be hoisted, with the assistance of local community groups, at the parks on Wednesday 28 July to coincide with Love Parks Week (Saturday 24 July to Sunday 1 August):
• 10am - Kidwells Park (near the A4 entrance, close to the pedestrian subway)
• 11am - Desborough Park (near the play area)
• 12noon - Oaken Grove Park (at the Blenheim Park entrance)
• 1pm - Braywick Park (at the main entrance in front of Stafferton Lodge)
• 2pm - Home Park (along King Edward VII Road)
• 3pm - Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground (in front of the pavilion).

Cllr Simon Dudley, lead member for adult and community services, said: "Here in the Royal Borough we have an outstanding collection of parks and open spaces which are popular and offer a range of attractions for all ages.

"However we are continually striving for the best possible experience for residents and visitors, and the Green Flag programme has helped us focus our efforts."

Last year just over a thousand parks and open spaces across the UK earned the coveted award which is presented for high standards in a range of areas including overall park management, safety, cleanliness and maintenance, sustainability, conservation and community involvement.
