Keeping Burglar Bill out this summer

The Royal Borough's community safety partnership summer burglary prevention roadshows continue with four additional events planned between early July and mid August, starting at Maidenhead Library on Wednesday 4 July between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

The roadshows will be staffed by community wardens, police community support officers and members of the community safety team, and will provide residents with hints and tips on keeping their houses, garages and sheds a 'Burglar Bill' free zone. Also available will be examples of locks, information leaflets and personal safety advice.

The following four roadshows will be held on:

  • Saturday 7 July, 9am to 1pm, Windsor Farmers' Market, St Leonards Road, Windsor
  • Tuesday 17 July, 12.30pm to 3.30pm, Wraysbury Village Car Park, High Street, Wraysbury
  • Thursday 19 July, 12noon to 2pm, Tesco, Dedworth
  • Wednesday 15 August, 10am to 4pm, Retirement Fair, Ascot Racecourse.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member with responsibility for community safety, said: "The roadshows have been very popular with great interest from residents. If there is one in your area do take the opportunity to go along - I guarantee you will pick up some really good tips to help make your home more secure.

"The psychological effects of burglary can affect the victim for years following the crime so anything we can do in partnership with the police to inform and raise awareness is for the good."

The roadshows are the brainchild of the Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG), which wants to raise people's awareness of what they can do to reduce their chances of being a victim of burglary.

Three roadshows have already been held across the borough this summer.
