Raising the profile of volunteering across the borough - that is the aim of a special event to be held in the Town Hall on Thursday 28 June from 11am to 2pm.
Hosted by the Royal Borough, the showcase event will provide networking opportunities for businesses, the voluntary and community sector, parishes as well as volunteering opportunities for local residents.
The day will include informal workshops on Big Society volunteering projects, including corporate social responsibility, and helping voluntary organisations access funding. Exhibitors include:
Abbots Laboratories will be conducting scientific experiments designed to appeal to young people and encourage participation.
Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for planning and partnerships, said: "We want to encourage more residents to take up volunteering and to get involved in projects or issues that matter to them in their local area.
"This day will provide a perfect opportunity for them to find out how they can do that and to meet others involved in volunteering in the borough.
"We are hoping more organisations will support the event to showcase their organisation's work and achievements but equally we would encourage residents and partners to attend and meet colleagues and partners in the borough."
