It's fingers firmly crossed for fine dry weather in the coming weeks as the Royal Borough forges ahead with completing its annual roads resurfacing programme well before the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Council contractors will once again take to the roads in mid-June to carry out remedial work following an earlier-than-usual start to the programme to ensure that the forthcoming Games traffic would not be affected.
However, unseasonally cold wet weather in April caused the road surfaces to develop minor problems of surface chipping and peeling.
In the next couple of weeks contractors will revisit all the affected roads to re-lay chippings and re-tar the surfaces to bring them up to standard - at the same time as completing the white lining which was part of the original schedule.
Work on all the borough roads not expected to be affected by Games traffic is also continuing and scheduled to be completed by the middle of July.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways, transport and environment, said: "Resurfacing work is always weather dependent and our contractors have advised us that the adverse conditions in April meant that the end result of some of the work is not up to their usual high standards. They will be working to address this in the coming weeks - at no cost to council taxpayers.
"We are still determined to complete the annual programme by the middle of July and ensure that our roads are safe and in good condition to cope with all the extra visitors we are expecting during the summer months.
"By the time the programme is complete more than 70 roads across the borough will have been resurfaced and our towns and villages will be looking their best for the start of the summer's sporting events."
