Over the next seven months households in the Royal Borough will receive a blue recycling bin in which to place all their recycling and earn rewards.
But this raises a question - what to do with the old black and purple boxes? The answer is that residents can keep them - and if they like they can tell the council their ideas about how the boxes can be put to good use, whether they are going to be employed at home, in the garden or put in the back of the car for shopping trips.
All suggestions will be welcomed, from the ingenious to the wacky, in the hope of inspiring other residents.
In return, there is the chance to win RecycleBank Points! A total of 1,000 Points are up for grabs with 500 going to the winner, 350 to the runner-up and 150 for third place.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, lead member for public protection, said: "This competition is a bit of fun, giving everyone a chance to let their imaginations go wild, but with the practical purpose of emphasising the importance of reusing materials and items.
"Get creative, tell us your boxing clever ideas and you could be a winner!"
Anyone with a bright idea can send in their suggestion, along with an accompanying photo of the newly deployed box, to waste.unit@rbwm.gov.uk or FAO Waste Management, York House, Sheet Street, Windsor SL4 1DD.
A selection of entries will go on the Royal Borough website and all photos can be found on Facebook so that residents can view the ideas - and be inspired!
The draw for the winners will take place at the end of the rollout programme.
Unwanted black and purple boxes can be handed in at Stafferton Way civic amenity site in Maidenhead.
