With considerably more parking enforcement areas than usual to cover during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Royal Borough is giving its parking officers the wheels to do the job - three-wheeled bikes!
Three Piaggio Yourbans are being hired from Windsor company Moto2Rent and parking officers are being trained to drive them safely so they can cover large areas as quickly and efficiently as possible - aiming to keep streets clear for local residents and businesses at a time when more than 30,000 people are expected every day for the Games at Eton Dorney.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways, transport and environment, said: "With the Olympic and Paralympic Games right on our doorstep in July and August we have worked with the Games organisers to introduce temporary regulations to deter spectators and other visitors to Eton Dorney parking in local streets.
"Our aim is to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses and the bikes will enable parking officers to cover all the extra demands on their time as efficiently as possible."
Cllr Bicknell will take delivery of the three bikes from Shami Kalra, managing director of Moto2Rent on Thursday 31 May at the Scooter Café, Queen Street, Maidenhead.
