Fare changes for Maidenhead bus passengers

Passengers on Royal Borough contracted bus services in Maidenhead will unfortunately have to pay slightly higher fares from Saturday (18 June).

The rise is the result of increased running costs for contractor Courtney Coaches and will mean that most passengers will pay 10 pence extra per single journey and 15 pence per return.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Environment, said he was disappointed by the increase but in the face of higher fuel prices, there was nothing the Council could do.

Cllr Bicknell said: "Like all of us, Courtney Coaches is having to pay more for fuel and needs to increase ticket prices to help cover costs.

"It is really regrettable that our residents are facing these increases but Courtney's have assured us that they must increase the ticket prices to protect the services that local people depend on."

The council contracted services affected by the increase from Saturday 18 June are:
• Route 4 (Maidenhead - Waltham St. Lawrence - Maidenhead)
• Route 4c (Bracknell - Waltham St. Lawrence - Maidenhead)
• Route 5 (Farmers Way - Maidenhead Town Centre - Cranbrook Drive)
• Route 6 (Windsor - Maidenhead Town Centre - St. Marks Hospital)
• Route 8 (Boulters Lock - Maidenhead Town Centre - Halifax Road)
• Route 239 (Henley - Hurley - Maidenhead).
