Dinner guest to write home about at Mayor's charity event

Author Duncan McNair – whose book The Morello Letters: Penpal to the stars was a pre-Christmas best-seller – is the guest speaker at the Mayor's Charity dinner at the Guildhall, Windsor on Friday (March 23).

Described as "the funniest collection of spoof letters" by TV celebrity Jon Snow, The Morello Letters features a series of correspondences between fictional Italian immigrant Mr Morello and institutional characters ranging from Tony Blair and the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Bank of England and Arsenal Football Club!

Mr McNair will select anecdotes from his book to entertain guests as they enjoy a three-course dinner – hosted by Mayor Cllr Margaret Cubley and her Consort, Mr Geoffrey Cubley - in the prestigious surroundings of the Grade 1 listed building in the High Street.

Proceeds from the annual black-tie event – being held for the first time at the Guildhall - will go towards relationship counselling service RELATE.*  Last year's charity dinner raised £3,000 for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

Cllr Cubley will welcome guest from organisations across the borough as well as representatives from other local authorities to a champagne reception at 7.30pm.

Guests will have the opportunity to have photographs taken by a professional photographer during the evening at a cost of £12.50 each, with 20% of all sales donated to the charity.
