Local service organisations will once again join the Royal Borough in celebrating British Armed Forces Day at a special flagraising event later this month.
The Royal Borough - together with councils across the country - will be raising its special Armed Forces Day flag above the Town Hall in St Ives Road, Maidenhead, on Monday 20 June at 10.30am, to mark the start of Armed Forces Week.
Representatives from the service organisations have been invited to bring their standards to the flag-raising ceremony and to join the Mayor, Cllr Asghar Majeed, for refreshments afterwards in the Mayor's Parlour.
Cllr Majeed said this week: "This is the third year that councils have been encouraged to join in the national celebration in honour of all those who serve or who have served in the armed forces.
"I am delighted that we in the Royal Borough are once again taking this opportunity to show our heartfelt appreciation to the members of the armed forces for their commitment and dedication and our utmost respect for their selfless contribution to serving their country
"I would urge as many people as possible to join with us in this very fitting tribute."
The special flag will fly above the Town Hall until after Armed Forces Day (Saturday June 25) and follows the success of previous Veterans' Day celebrations.
The day provides an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community - from currently serving troops to service families, and from veterans to recruits.
