Under starter's orders -still time for prospective councillors to apply

There is still time for Royal Borough residents interested in standing as candidates in the forthcoming borough or parish council elections on Thursday May 5 to apply.

With the notice of election being published this Friday (25 March) potential candidates are being urged to contact electoral services now on 01628 796400 for a nomination pack.

The packs include the relevant forms plus notes on how to complete them. The completed forms must be returned to the office of the returning officer in the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, between Friday March 25 and noon on Monday April 4.

Nomination packs should be returned by hand to the office as the Royal Borough cannot take responsibility for those that are lost in the post or arrive after the deadline. Applicants wishing to have their form checked before submission should call 01628 796400 or 796306 to make an appointment.

All applicants must be aged 18 or over.

Additional information on elections and referendums can be found on the Council's website at www.rbwm.gov.uk and on the Electoral Commission website at www.electoralcommission.org.uk.

The final list of candidates will be published on the council's website by noon on Wednesday 6 April.
