Royal Borough residents are this week being urged to make sure they are registered to vote in the forthcoming elections.
With borough and parish council elections and a UK-wide referendum taking place on Thursday 5 May voters are being reminded not to miss the registration deadline of Thursday 14 April.
Ian Trenholm, chief executive and elections returning officer, said this week: "If you are not registered to vote now is the time to act before the deadline in two weeks' time. It only takes a few minutes - you can either call our Helpline on 01628 683868 to request a registration form (or print off the form from the electoral services registration page on www.rbwm.gov.uk or from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk). Do make sure you don't miss this chance to have your say in May."
Registration forms should be returned to Electoral Services, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead SL6 1RF by the deadline of Thursday 14 April.
At the beginning of April the Electoral Commission, the independent elections watchdog, is sending a booklet to every household in the UK with information about how to have your say on 5 May.
The referendum is on the voting system used for elections to the UK Parliament. The question being put to voters on Thursday 5 May is: "At present, the UK uses the 'first past the post' system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the 'alternative vote' system be used instead?"
