Council customers invited to hail their heroes

School admissions, elections, social care, street cleaning, grant applications, planning permission, leisure centres… Royal Borough residents deal with council staff in so many different ways.

Now members of the public are invited to let the council know about any officers they feel deserve special recognition by nominating them for either of two categories in the annual Extra Mile Awards.

The awards, which were introduced last year, are designed to recognise and thank staff members who regularly go above and beyond the call of duty in delivering council services.

Residents and other council customers are invited to submit nominations for the Outstanding Customer Service and Unsung Hero categories by going to www.rbwm.gov.uk and clicking on the Extra Mile Awards link. The closing date is Tuesday 31 May.

Cllr David Burbage, Council Leader, said: "The Extra Mile Awards are a great opportunity to recognise and honour council staff for their commitment to putting residents first and providing the best possible customer service.

"I would encourage residents, and council staff, to make their voices heard and nominate any staff member or team who has given them outstanding service over the last year."

All the shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on the evening of Thursday 30 June in the Desborough Suite, Town Hall, Maidenhead.

The awards are sponsored by council contractors meaning they are run at no cost to council taxpayers.
