Royal Borough residents interested in becoming involved in local democracy by standing as a candidate in the forthcoming borough or parish council elections on Thursday May 5 are being urged to apply now.
All interested candidates and their agents are invited to attend a briefing and information meeting on Wednesday March 9 at 6pm in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, SL6 1RF.
The session will cover essential information for would-be candidates as well as providing the opportunity to ask questions and receive a full guidance manual and nomination pack.
The nomination packs include the relevant forms plus notes on how to complete them. The completed forms must be returned to the office of the returning officer between Friday March 25 and noon on Monday April 4.
Nomination packs should be returned by hand as the elections team cannot take responsibility for those lost in the post or late. Any applicant wishing to have their form checked before submission should call 01628 796400 or 796306 to make an appointment to arrange.
All applicants must be aged 18 or over. Potential applicants who are unable to attend the information evening should contact Electoral Services on 01628 796306 or 796400 for a nomination pack or for further information.
Packs and guidance are also available on the council website at www.rbwm.gov.uk or from the electoral commission on www.electoralcommission.org.uk
