Helping more people to live independently - that's the focus of two innovative "shop window" opportunities to be held in the borough in the coming weeks.
A wide range of Royal Borough businesses, voluntary organisations, clubs and societies - including those which provide services and products to support independent living - are being urged to sign up for the events to promote their services, products and activities to residents.
The drop-in events - appropriately entitled Your Independence Days - are designed to show the diversity of services and activities available locally which will help people in need of care and support to live independently.
These include the many hundreds of borough residents who have been allocated Personal Budgets which give them the freedom to choose services that better suit their needs and lifestyles.
There is still time for interested organisations to sign up for one or both of the FREE events to be held on:
• Thursday 10 March at Windsor Leisure Centre, Stovell Road, Windsor, from 10am to 3pm
• Monday 21 March at the Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead, from 10am to 3pm.
Cllr Simon Dudley, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, said: "As well as organisations which provide traditional care and support services we are also hoping to attract any local community groups and clubs whose activities could help to promote the aim of independent living such as ramblers groups, women's institutes and many more.
"With so many of our residents now able to buy their care services with their own and council money there is so much more flexibility and choice and it is vital that we provide as much information as possible to help them make really informed choices that best suit their lifestyles.
"These showcase events will be an excellent way of getting information out to as many people as possible and will be a very worthwhile shop window for a range of local service providers, clubs, societies and businesses."
