As the festive season approaches the Mayor of the Royal Borough, Cllr Asghar Majeed, has a message to anyone planning a Christmas meal out - don't forget to dine and donate!
By booking at a restaurant signed up to the Mayor's innovative charity fundraising scheme Do-eat then Do-nate, diners can enjoy double helpings - a good meal and the chance to make a contribution to a worthy cause.
Cllr Majeed said: "Christmas is known as a time of giving and goodwill so this is a great way to do just that while enjoying the festive spirit.
"Diners at participating restaurants can give as much or as little as they wish, knowing that every penny of their contribution will go to a local charity."
So far more than 50 restaurants and businesses have signed up to the scheme. Ideas to raise funds include a Mayor's charity 'dish of the day', a special collecting tin on display in the restaurant, voluntary donations and a one-off fundraising event.
A full list of participating restaurants can be seen at www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/members_mayoralty_charity_initiative.htm
Businesses are still welcome to join the scheme - contact the Mayor's secretary on 01628 796223 or email mayors.parlour@rbwm.gov.uk for further information.
