Centrica park and ride - back for Christmas

There's an early Christmas present up and running once again for Royal Borough motorists heading to Windsor for some festive shopping.

For the second year running the popular Centrica park and ride scheme is back for the Christmas season - ready to whisk residents and visitors into Windsor town centre in stress-free style.

The council scheme started on Saturday and will operate from Centrica in Maidenhead Road, Windsor, for the next four weekends in the run-up to Christmas. The scheme proved very popular during its summer season from Easter to September, with a significant uptake in user numbers compared with the previous year.

And now it is back for its second Christmas taking passengers direct to Peascod Street and with no increase in charges.

Residents and visitors can once again enjoy a day in Windsor for as little as £2 in parking, with the FREE bus service running from 10am to 6pm with buses every 15 minutes.

Operated by Courtney Coaches, the service will run on the following Saturdays and Sundays:
• November 26 and 27
• December 3 and 4; 10 and 11, 17 and 18.

Charges are via pay and display in the Centrica car park. A stay of up to four hours is £2.50 (£1 with Advantage Card). For stays longer than four hours the fee is £4 (£2 with Advantage Card).

The barrier to allow vehicles in is raised at 10am and lowered at 7pm, by which time all cars must be removed.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways, transport and environment, said: "I am delighted that we are able to run this service once again in the run-up to Christmas. It is going to be a real boon to shoppers and will hopefully take some of the strain out of pre-Christmas shopping!

"And it is a particularly good deal for Royal Borough residents as they can use their Advantage Card to spend all day in Windsor for just £2."
