Children being educated and cared for in the Royal Borough are benefiting from services that are performing well.
That's the conclusion of Ofsted's 2011 assessment of local children's services which says the services, settings and institutions inspected are good or better and provision 'helps children and young people learn and stay safe'.
Published today (Tuesday 8 November), the assessment says the large majority of childminding/childcare, primary and secondary schools and education and training for over-16s are 'good or better' while under-fives' provision is good or outstanding.
And once again the borough's fostering service has been assessed as outstanding with adoption services as good.
Ofsted said there were 'no priority actions requiring urgent attention'.
Cllr Eileen Quick, cabinet member for children's services, congratulated everyone involved in caring for and educating children and young people in the borough.
She said: "This is an excellent result for us and the young people we serve. It reflects the dedication and hard work of teachers, governors, carers, council staff and, of course, the young people themselves. We still have more to achieve but the Ofsted assessment shows we are travelling in the right direction and I am confident that we will get even better in the year ahead."
