Pinkneys Green voters have elected Simon Werner (Liberal Democrat) to fill the ward vacancy on the borough council with 839 votes.
Yesterday's by-election - called following the sad death of Cllr Wilson Hendry who had served as a ward councillor since 1991 - saw a turn-out of 35.1%.
Voting for the other candidates was as follows: George Frederick Chamberlaine - UK Independence Party (UKIP) 152; Catherine Mary Hollingsworth - Conservatives 831; Patrick Sarchfield McDonald - The Labour and Co-operative Party Candidate 121
Cllr Werner previously served as a Pinkneys Green member from 1995 to 2011.
