Library lovers are invited to make a difference and help promote, support and shape the future of the Royal Borough's thriving libraries.
Residents are welcome to join Friends of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Libraries, a new, independent charitable organisation.
Anyone who signs up would support the library service through fundraising, promotional activity, volunteering support and reading development programmes.
Cllr Simon Dudley, cabinet member for adult and community services, said: "We have a thriving library service and are continually looking to improve what we offer residents. This initiative is very much in the spirit of the Big Society and volunteers can make a huge contribution to this improvement."
Two meetings where interested residents can find out more are planned, on Wednesday 24 October at 7pm at Maidenhead Library and Thursday 25 October at 2pm at Windsor Library.
Anyone who feels they could, or would like to, take on the following roles are particularly welcome: trustee, chair, secretary, treasurer, public relations / communications lead officer, fundraising co-ordinator, membership secretary and promotional activity lead officer.
The current interim committee, which was established in March this year, will remain involved initially to assist the Friends as they establish themselves as an independent entity.
The first meeting of the newly formed committee will on be Wednesday 21 November 7.30pm at Cox Green Library.
